The advantages of a gas barbecue cannot be denied, but one question always seems to rear it's head when the gas/charcoal debate starts off. Can a gas barbecue really give the distinctive flavour that charcoal barbecues do?
The answer is a categoric yes!
That delicious barbecue flavour is in fact nothing to do with using charcoal - it arises when the meat's juices drip onto a hot surface and vaporise back onto the meat. So, myth dispelled, here are some of the other benefits of barbecuing on gas:
- Easy to use - Calor gas barbecues light at the touch of a button and reach cooking temperature in around 10 minutes. A charcoal barbecue isn't really ready for cooking until the flames and smoke have died down and the coals have formed a glowing ember.
Cooking too early on charcoal and you get soot and uncontrollable flames.
- Garden gourmets - With adjustable gas burner settings you are always in control, giving you confidence that food will be properly cooked. Your confidence in your barbecue will leave you free to wow friends and family with more adventurous recipes.
