Why buy from a caravan dealer?

Why buy from a caravan dealer?Buying a caravan from an authorised caravan dealer comes with a host of benefits that allow you to be wholly confident in your purchase.

Caravan dealers are experts in their field, so if you're not sure of exactly what you're looking for, you're in the perfect place to be advised. There will always be a wide range of caravans on the forecourt, so a good sales person should be able to find something that matches your requirements.

When you do find a suitable caravan, dealers will encourage you to check it over, both internally and externally. They will show you all the caravan's functions, explain how to use the appliances and generally ensure that the buying process is as transparent as possible.

Buying from a dealer is usually a little more expensive then buying privately, but dealers do give assurances to the purchasing party that private transactions can't match.

In the eyes of the law, a registered caravan dealer is more qualified than you to find out the history of the caravan you're looking at. Therefore, if you bought a second-hand caravan from a dealer and it turned out to be stolen, or have outstanding finance, you would, in the vast majority of cases, be able to get your money back.

Had you bought the same caravan privately, the onus would have been on you to make the necessary checks yourself. Commissioning an HPI check on a potential purchase costs around £100, and is essential if you're not buying from an authentic dealer.

Good caravan dealers are always keen to uphold their reputation, and so it's rare that you would be sold a faulty caravan at a dealership. Dealers are legally obliged to make sure that the caravan they sell you is fit for purpose, and, as such, most dealers service all their vans in accordance with NCC (National Caravan Council) guidelines. The service highlights any potential problems with the caravans, such as damp.

What's more, most caravan dealers are able to offer part-exchanges for your current caravan. Very few private sales ever involve a part-exchange, leaving you with an old caravan to sell on yourself.
