When buying caravan security devices make sure they come with a seal of approval from Sold Secure - a not-for-profit organisation run by the Master Locksmiths' Association. The organisation was originally set up by Northumbria and Essex Police (and backed by the Home Office) with the aim of minimising the risk of theft by assessing security products.
Manufacturers and suppliers can apply to have their products approved by Sold Secure. Products which have been satisfactorily assessed may bear the Sold Secure Quality Mark. Information on these approved products is circulated to crime prevention officers, insurance companies, the media, the Home Office and the public, and is available free to those who require it.
