Which Calor cylinder do you need?

Gas cylinders are top of the packing list for any caravanner, so we've put together a useful guide that helps you find out which Calor cylinder best suits your needs.

Calor offers butane and propane in a variety of different cylinder sizes, plus a patio gas cylinder ideal for barbecues and table-top heaters. What's best for you will really depend on how and when you intend to use your caravan.

All year caravanning

Calor Propane 6KgIf you like getting away from it all outside of peak season, or perhaps like the thought of spending Christmas and New Year in your caravan, you'll need to take Calor Propane along with you.

Calor Propane, which comes in a distinctive bright red cylinder, is ideal for winter caravanning due to its lower freezing point. It will function perfectly well in colder outdoor weather, and fits a clip-on regulator for easy changeover.

Most caravanners find the 6kg cylinder to be ideal, providing plenty of hours' gas while still being easy to carry and store. A smaller propane cylinders, 3.9kg, is also available.

Summer caravanning

Calor Butane 7kgIf you plan to use your caravan predominantly in the summer, you're more likely to use Calor butane cylinders.

Butane's properties mean it is perfectly suited to spring and summer caravanning. It comes in 4.5kg, 7kg and 15kg cylinders, each bright blue in colour.

Like Calor propane, butane cylinders are easy to store and carry - though care should always be taken when lifting and carrying larger cylinders.

Barbecuing

Calor Patio Gas TM 5kg cylinderThe idea of sitting round a barbecue, enjoying a glass of wine with new friends, is one of the most appealing and attractive aspects of caravanning.

If you're keen to fire up the barbecue as soon as you arrive on site, make sure you stock up on Calor Patio GasTM. Calor Patio GasTM cylinders contain propane and feature the GasTrac® our innovative gas gauge.

The GasTrac® indicates how much gas is left in the cylinder, giving you plenty of time to purchase a refill as levels get low.
